I was just screwing around with the image program and came up with this. Although I didn't think much of it, my husband really loved it; somehow, I found a correlation between it and the structure of his mind. Thus, this is a tribute piece. Somewhat. ;) I haven't framed it, but it would be available as one print of 250.
This was a Christmas gift to a good friend, who gave permission for me to display here as an example of my work. The original size is 13"x19". I framed it with a 1" gold surrounding square with black matte overlay in a 24"x24" frame. I'll try to take a picture next time I go to their house (because I forgot to take it before wrapping it!)
This is work based on the Druidic equivalent of the Yin and Yang, as the saying "As Above, So Below" offers a multi-faceted view of balance as well as mirroring. This (1) is not as successful as (2), I believe, but I like how it's very crown-like. Christ wore a crown of thorns in his work to bring balance to us, yet here is a "crown" of trees, Nature's silent sentinels.
Here is a framed version of the previous work. The print is 13"x17" in a 24"x24" frame. This is made in a printed series of 250.
This one is a little more in line with the Druidic idea than (1) is.

This one is subtly risqué, but you have to look close to understand why. The gist is the connection between nature and the human body as each plays a role in rebirth (on many different levels).

I love this cat. I found him in a ditch when a co-worker’s car broke down and I went to help. He was terrified and in shock. So of course I took him home. Today he’s a loving beast with plenty of character. So of course I made a piece about him.
Here’s how the previous piece looks on my wall; please ignore that ugly white tag, it was an experiment gone awry. The print is 13"x17" in a 24"x24" frame. This is made in a printed series of 250.

I found some lovely pictures of mossy stumps one day and made this.
We’re always depicting God with Zeus-like features or as a giant Flying Spaghetti Monster. My question is: what if we depicted God with a geometric construct which represents his/her cosmic perfection in balance, sovereignty and aestheticism?

Although there is a sense of sadness in a tree being cut down, I found a strange beauty in the cut of this particular stump. The inside of this tree show growth and bright color full of life with organic lines and subtle artistry, yet the cleave marks stay as a reminder of the hard lines which so drastically changed this tree and revealed this interior.
A further exploration into the nature of the silent sentinels around us.

I’m still not sure if I like this piece. I experiment with my own pictures because 1) it’s cheaper than hiring a model and 2) it’s not as awkward as asking friends to pose nude for me. J

Ever notice how sometimes you can feel like you’re in the middle of an inferno and yet you’re so, so cold?

The goal of this work was to highly the sensuality of the female form in a way that women can appreciate. It’s not about homosexuality, but about women appreciating the beauty of each other on any level (whether homo, hetero, sexually, spiritually, emotionally, or any other way).

This one messes with a lot of people. I took a picture of my older sister’s dog and mirrored her face, then added extra eyes. People view it and see all kinds of things. There’s a little bit of sexual imagery in there. I guess it’s kind of my own private joke because this female dog was quite a rambunctious tomboy before she calmed down, and I say to myself, “It’s funny that we stereotype people based on their genitals.”

I like this piece. The purpose was to create a physical representation of what it’s like to expel intense emotions.

Comment on the self-image of young women.
I started the “Angel” series to combine my fascination with angelic myth with my intrigue in graphically experimenting with the human body (using my own for efficiency). Most of them sucked, except for this one. J

I started the “Angel” series to combine my fascination with angelic myth with my intrigue in graphically experimenting with the human body (using my own for efficiency). Most of them sucked, but this one was salvageable. And it made this jerk at Kinko’s hit on me when I was trying to get it printed out. Oh! But it was also the one that really freaked out the snottiest art teacher ever. That was awesome.
Yes, the big “SAMPLE” thing sucks. I’ll take it out.
This was an experiment with color…. Could use a re-work.
Made as a representation of the spiritual connection between lovers. Yes, Mary, my husband is cool with this piece because it was made before we met.
Here is a portrait of a goofy friend of mine, a really nice person. He volunteered this photo because he's so awesome. And yes, "Apocalyptic Nude" is meant to be a goofy title.
If you would like to purchase a print of this piece, proceeds will go to my friend for his college/art material needs.
There’s that moment in time when the world goes blurry, and your field of vision becomes a little smaller, and then you see colors that you couldn’t see before – but only for a few seconds.

I forget where I got this idea from.... I was reading something about a cup of fire.... and I could envision it flowing out of the cup like a river.
This is a one-of-a-kind piece because of its unique frame, but it's also available as a print with a less unique frame.
Playing with facets of nature.
I love warm water... like many of you out there.

A friend's shoulder had really gotten banged up in a car accident - I was so impressed that I had to take a picture.
Kind of a psychedlic self-portrait. Half is sharp, the other half is blurry and drifts off into space. Remember, this was a self-portrait in 2003. I was staying with a woman at this charcoal mfg facility in Mexico when I made this, having no idea what I was doing there.

This reminds me of a bad, over-fuzzy sweater.
Ghost was a very lovely white cat with blue eyes who "adopted" me in Mexico. Very much a sweetheart with a captivating stare. He was quite strange, though. I brought him back here. He met an unfortunate end when someone let him out of the house when he wasn't supposed to be out. :(

There was this gorgeous old, old tree near a river where I used to escape to for peace, back when I lived in Mexico. A blue tree spirit can be seen in the middle. This tree was hollowed out by a lightning bolt, and the interior was covered with a thin layer of charcoal. I wanted to build a little house in it and live like Peter Pan.
Same as before, but digitally manipulated.
I was messing around with a younger picture of my kid sister. This one's just for fun.
The original picture is in the left upper corner; the rest are manipulated digitally.
Same techniques as in #1. This one shows a guy jumping over the fire in the dark.
Someone snapped a photo of me while I was in the shower as a joke; the dense steam was a really great cover, and I liked the effect. So I didn't really change this one much.

I used to apprentice for a blacksmith who worked next to an autobody shop full of guys who had good hearts but had done some bad things. I made them all show me their scars and then tell me stories about their scars. I miss them!
An attempt to make a graphic depiction of emotional pain.
Dorkiest thing I've done. I have such a cartoony style of drawing. But I like flower people!
